Jamaica's long-term strategy: costs, benefits, and operationalization

Assessing the costs and benefits of Jamaica’s long-term strategy and supporting its operationalization.

Jamaica’s Long-Term Emission Reduction and Climate-Resilient Strategy (LTS) is a roadmap for aligning climate ambition with sustainable development and resilience.

As Project Manager and Technical Lead, working alongside Climate Lead Group and under the leadership of the Climate Change Branch of the Ministry of Water, Environment and Climate Change, I led the development of its cost-benefit analysis, supported by the 2050 Pathways Platform.

The analysis was informed through stakeholder workshops, bilateral meetings, and the use of open access models. It showed that implementing the LTS could generate an estimated USD 13.9 billion in net benefits by 2050, highlighting how long-term climate mitigation and adaptation planning can advance people-centered prosperity.

I am also leading the update of the LTS operationalization plan, helping translate long-term ambition into concrete policy and implementation pathways.
