Assessing power sector pathways in Latin America and the Caribbean

Co-authoring UNEP’s assessment of natural gas vs. renewable energy pathways in the region’s power sector — and the case for fossil fuel phase-out.

Electricity transmission infrastructure against a stormy sky in Latin America

United Nations Environment Programme’s report, “Is Natural Gas a Good Investment for Latin America and the Caribbean?”, assesses the economic, employment, and emission implications of expanding natural gas in the region’s power sector. It compares different energy pathways and finds that scaling up renewable energy offers significantly greater benefits in terms of costs, job creation, and emissions reductions, contributing more effectively to achieving climate goals.

This is just part of the sound evidence that exists supporting fossil fuel phase-out and investments in renewable energy.
